The direction "Kind of Gaudy Shuffle" at the very top perfectly describes the feel of this arrangement. This quirky composition by Jack DeJohnette arranged by Julius Hemphill is truly a gem. Harmonically and rhythmically it follows a completely unique path, as the dissonances and clusters created by rhythmically juxtaposed sections here truly serve a musical purpose of the song. Interesting choice of piccolo, clarinet, soprano, tenor and bass clarinet in winds section further amplify the eccentric character of the piece.
